 at the end of the 1960s\, Bielefeld University has embraced  
 \ninterdisciplinarity as a defining institutional principle. The Center
 for   \nInterdisciplinary Research (ZiF) and the Institute for Studies of
 Science   \n(ISoS) have jointly organized the lecture series
 Interdisciplinarity in   \nScientific Research – Perspectives from
 Practice and Science Studies [1] to   \nexplore interdisciplinarity in
 both theory and practice. \n \nThis lecture series brings together
 theoretical reflections and practical   \nexperiences on
 interdisciplinarity in scientific research. The field of   \nScience
 Studies has long examined the conditions\, forms\, and implications of  
 \ninterdisciplinary work. Historians\,sociologists\, and philosophers of
 science   \naddress questions such as: What distinguishes
 interdisciplinary from   \nmultidisciplinary research? How is knowledge
 integrated across disciplinary   \nboundaries? How do interdisciplinary
 fields emerge and stabilize? How do   \nresearchers navigate conflicting
 methods\, standards\, and epistemic cultures   \nin collaborative
 settings? \n \nThe series connects these theoretical debates with insights
 from research\,   \nfunding\, and institutional practice. It highlights
 interdisciplinary projects   \nin which scholars develop innovative
 approaches to collaboration and design   \nmeasures to foster
 interdisciplinary competencies. The lecture series also   \noffers
 perspectives on how funding organizations design and implement formats  
 \nthat promote and sustain interdisciplinary research\, as well as on how 
  \nresearch institutes host\, structure\, and actively support such
