Peris+Toral Wohnungsbau, fotografiert von José Hevia
Der Kunstverein Bielefeld freut sich, vom 10. Mai bis 13. Juli 2025, die Ausstellung PERIS+TORAL Wohnungsbau, fotografiert von José Hevia in Kooperation mit dem BDA Ostwestfalen-Lippe zu präsentieren. Anhand von Zeichnungen und zahlreichen Fotografien José Hevias zeigt die Ausstellung vier Projekte des in Barcelona ansässigen Büros Peris+Toral Arquitectes und gibt Einblicke in dessen herausragendes Oeuvre.
Wir laden Sie herzlich zu der Ausstellungseröffnung am Freitag, den 9. Mai 2025, um 19 Uhr in den Kunstverein Bielefeld ein.
Marta Peris und José Toral haben ihr Büro 2005 gegründet und entwickeln innovative Wohnkonzepte, die Nachhaltigkeit, Wirtschaftlichkeit und soziale Fragestellungen vereinen. Ihre Projekte setzen sich intensiv mit klimatischen Gegebenheiten, Materialbeschaffenheit und räumlicher Flexibilität auseinander, um neue Formen des Wohnens auszuloten.
Mit Modulus Matrix erforschen sie das Potenzial modularer Raumstrukturen in Holzbauweise, während
Raw Rooms die bauphysikalischen und ästhetischen Eigenschaften von Stampflehm verbindet, um Wohn- räume mit hoher Aufenthaltsqualität zu schaffen. Living in Lime ist ein am Rand des historischen Stadtkerns einer mallorquinischen Kleinstadt gelegenes Wohngebäude mit 42 Sozialwohnungen. Durch den Einsatz lokaler Materialien und einer raffinierten Gliederung der Baumassen fügt es sich harmonisch in den bestehenden Kontext ein und stärkt zugleich die Atmosphäre des Ortes. Greenh@use, ein neungeschossiges Gebäude in einem urbanen Umfeld, nutzt das Prinzip eines Gewächshauses, um in Verbindung mit einer Sequenz von Atrien eine lichtdurchflutete Architektur zu schaffen, in der Wohnungen für Geflüchtete Sozialwohnungen und Altenwohnungen unter einem Dach vereint sind.
Mit ihrer Architektur formulieren Peris+Toral Arquitectes eine intelligente und fantasievolle Antwort auf ökologische, soziale wie auch räumliche Herausforderungen der Gegenwart – hin zu einer nachhaltigen, flexiblen und gemeinschaftsorientierten Wohnzukunft, die zudem höchste ästhetische Qualitäten aufweist.
Für ihre wegweisenden Arbeiten wurde das Büro vielfach ausgezeichnet, darunter mit dem Premio FAD de Arquitectura, dem Architectural Review Awards for Emerging Architecture, dem RIBA International Award for Excellence 2024 sowie dem DETAIL Award 2024. 2025 vertreten Peris+Toral Arquitectes Spanien auf der Architektur-Biennale in Venedig.

Kunstverein Bielefeld in cooperation with BDA Ostwestfalen-Lippe is pleased to present the exhibition Housing, photographed by José Hevia – on view from May 10 to July 13, 2025. Through architectural drawings and numerous photographs by José Hevia, the exhibition highlights four housing projects by the Barcelona-based architecture studio Peris+Toral Arquitectes, offering a nuanced insight into their remarkable oeuvre.

Marta Peris and José Toral established their studio in 2005 and have since developed forward-thinking housing concepts that interweave sustainability, economic efficiency and social questions. Their architectural investigations respond sensitively to climatic conditions, material qualities, and adaptable spatial approaches, aiming to redefine contemporary modes of living.
Modulus Matrix explores the potential of modular timber construction and spatial grids, while Raw Rooms engages with the physical and atmospheric qualities of earth blocks to generate high-comfort living environments. Living in Limeis situated on the edge of the historic core of a small Mallorcan town and comprises 42 social housing units. Through the use of local materials and a refined structuring of the building masses, the project blends harmoniously into the existing context and simultaneously enhances the atmosphere of the location. Greenh@use, a nine-storey structure in a dense urban context, applies the greenhouse principle in conjunction with a sequence of atriums to create a luminous architecture that accommodates refugee housing, social housing, and senior living under one roof.
Peris+Toral Arquitectes articulate a thoughtful and imaginative response to the ecological, social, and spatial challenges of contemporary housing. Their architecture advocates for a sustainable, flexible, and collective way of inhabiting space — while maintaining a strong commitment to tectonic clarity and aesthetic precision.
Their work has been widely recognized, with awards including the Premio FAD de Arquitectura, the Architectural Review Awards for Emerging Architecture, the RIBA International Award for Excellence 2024, and the DETAIL Award 2024. In 2025, Peris+Toral Arquitectes will represent Spain at the Venice Architecture Biennale.
